Cabinets come in various types based on their design, functionality, and placement. Here’s a list of common types of cabinets:
- Base Cabinets: These are the standard type of cabinets used under countertops. They are typically 24 inches deep and 36 inches tall.
- Wall Cabinets: Mounted on the wall, these cabinets are often used to store dishes, glasses, and other items. They vary in height but are typically 12 inches deep.
- Tall Cabinets: These cabinets stretch from the floor to the ceiling and are often used as pantry space or to store brooms and other tall items.
- Corner Cabinets: Designed to fit into a corner, these cabinets can be base or wall-mounted and make use of otherwise wasted space.
- Island Cabinets: These are cabinets used in kitchen islands. They can be a combination of base cabinets with drawers, shelves, or wine racks.
- Display Cabinets: Often with glass doors, these cabinets are used to display dishes, collectibles, or other decorative items.
- Pantry Cabinets: Specifically designed for food storage, they can be tall cabinets or separate small spaces dedicated to storing dry goods and other food items.
- Utility or Closet Cabinets: These are often tall cabinets used in laundry rooms or mudrooms for storing cleaning supplies, linens, or utility items.
- Drawer Base Cabinets: These are base cabinets that consist mainly of drawers, ideal for storing utensils, tools, or other small items.

- Pull-out Cabinets: These cabinets have a pull-out mechanism, which is great for storing spices, oils, or tall bottles.
